17th June 2011
I love Del’Aziz, for breakfast, brunch or dinner. It is always packed, with many customers being turned away; not surprising the food is excellent.  There is always a good atmosphere and the staff are efficient and cheerful.
For breakfast or brunch, the eggs benedict are my weakness. They come with ‘door step’ slices of toast and a large black coffee and I mean large, it comes in a colourful clay mug with approximately a pint of coffee, perfect on Saturday morning!

When we go for dinner, we generally start with the mixed mezze platter of hummus, tabouleh, lamb boreck, keftas, merguez sausages, tzatziki and the mixed vegetarian mezze platter of hummus, dolma, tabouleh, falafel, cheese boreck, tzatziki, this is always accompanied by endless offers of a variety of breads.

Now, I know some people who won’t have any bread, I know some people who have one or two pieces, I also know people who will eat the breads throughout their meal, what I love about Del’Azzi is they keep offering. We had the same experience in the  wonderful Orrery Restaurant, Marylebone High Street, it’s an excellent touch.

I’m a creature of habit at Del’ Aziz, so for main course I usually have the Couscous Royale. The chicken, lamb & merguez sausages were fantastic! All the meat is richly seasoned and accompanied by vegetable chunks and couscous which is so light and fluffy it almost melts in my mouth.

On our last visit, Mr A. had the Persian Lamb ‘Bamie’, which despite lamb not being my favourite  meat, was gorgeous.

Both meals are summoned up by the website: ‘dishes reflect the tantalising flavours of the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean, the subtly scented and spicy dishes from Maghreb and Egypt as well as the simplicity, freshness and healthiness of the Mediterranean diet’. Couldn’t have put it better myself!

I sometimes finish my meal with traditional mint tea, perfect!

I have never finshed a meal at Del'Azizo so do remember that staff  are happy to give you a 'doggy bag' to take home.

Almost forgot to mention the additional treat on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, a terrific Belly Dancer. My brother-in-law would agree with that!!!
