Dona Francisquita, Trattoria Bar Pizzeria, Seville, Spain

13th April 2011

It took us about an hour to walk from the hotel to the centre of Seville. Of course as I had booked the trip, Mr A. wanted to know why I had chosen a hotel so far out of town. To be honest, it was the first hotel that appeared when I Google searched hotels in Seville. Anyway, we really needed refreshments by this stage and noticed Dona Francisquita in one of the back streets, behind the cathedral. It was really busy, which we took as a good sign.

We took a table outside and ordered beer, a tinto de verano with some bread, olives and olive oil. We thought this would tide us over while we looked at the menu. I am assuming by now that you realise my love of bread, olives and olive oil is a very serious one!

This was day five of the trip and we hadn’t had Paella. This restaurant had a selection of about eight to choose from, so we both chose Black Rice Seafood Paella. Don’t be put off by how it looks and I know it doesn’t look appetising, but it was gorgeous!
We were not disappointed by any of the food, but the flamenco dancer who decided to stamp her feet and clap her hands across from our table did disappoint! After all, we had been to the gypsy caves in Granada, now that is true flamenco dancing!!!

For the food

For the Flamenco dancer, it was an extremely hot day!
