Ronda was one of the highlights of our trip! When you have a view like this from your hotel balcony, the gin and tonic seems to taste a tad better!
In the evening, we decided to eat in the restaurant next to our hotel, which had the same view of the El Tajo canyon and the mountains. The Restaurant Duquesa de Parcent had a dining room inside, a balcony outside and a balcony below. We sat on the balcony outside the restaurant.
The bridge to our left, the panoramic view of the mountains in front of us and the setting sun made up for the food. Don’t get me wrong; the food was fine, but not haute cuisine.
Mr A. ordered mussels for starter and I had avocado and prawn salad.
For main course, Mr A. had leg of lamb, which he was sure was goat, and I had grilled pork sirloin with jacket potato.
We had this with a bottle of Cote de Imaz Reserva 2004. We were still comparing all the wines to Malbec but again this one was fine.
To be honest, the food was home cooking and not the best at that. Although Ronda was a feast for the eyes, when it came to eating, it was OK. But then isn’t it occasions such as these that put fine eating in perspective?
For the food
For the view
