Smiths of Smithfield

Don’t even bother! With London full of excellent restaurants it’s not worth the trip.
The food is average particularly the steaks, which are a rare breed. The staff look bored and the place feels cold, with no atmosphere.

We had just arrived in London from Hungary and the restaurant happened to be around the corner from our apartment in Smithfield. We had no idea who owned it but that was quickly apparent by the stacks of cookbooks for sale in the restaurant. I then asked the bored looking waitress if John Torode was cooking in the kitchen, to which she relied with ‘Oh no, he’s too busy to cook here anymore’.
My advice is, follow John’s example and don’t go near it!

With a recent poor hygiene report from Islington Council, need I say more?

One star and this is for the dried broad beans but then they were overpriced!
