Unfortunately, we tried to get tickets for the Alhambra Palace up to a week before our trip but they were sold out. Still determined to at least see the outside of the palace and the gardens, we walked the steep hills to the top of the city.
After a look around the site, we noticed there was a hotel in the grounds. The sign outside the hotel said ‘Guests only’, but that has never stopped Mr A. and me in the past. So, in we went and found the most magnificent view from the palace over the gardens and hillside.
We sat, ordered one of my all time favourites lunches, a large gin and tonic (half gin, half tonic, the way we like it!), a selection of breads, some gorgeous extra virgin olive oil and a bottle of sparkling water (obviously we needed to rehydrate). It was fantastic! Mr A. doesn’t get my ‘obsession’ with bread and olive oil; I don’t get his with oysters. C'est la vie!
For the oil and the view
